25-year-old Tyler Pack entered Speedway at 74 W. Main St., showed a handgun and demanded cash and cigarettes, just before 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.

New Lebanon Police Chief Rick Daulton said when the suspect fled, an officer happened to be driving by and tried to pull over the getaway car. The suspect did not stop and eventually crashed in a field on Church Street at Mile Road.

He complained of chest pains and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital. On the way from the hospital to jail, police said Pack kicked out the window of an Englewood police cruiser and had to be pinned down in the middle of a street.

Pack is held on $750,000 bail in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, robbery, escape, vandalism and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, criminal damaging and obstructing official business.

He is due in court Tuesday afternoon, online jail records show.
