Part of the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia was plunged into darkness tonight and failed wires are getting the early blame.

A power outage in the area of West Ankeney Mill and Fairground roads that affected part of the fairgrounds was reported about 8 p.m., Dayton Power & Light Operations Director Kevin Hall said.

Crews found firing that needed to be repaired, Hall said, but what caused the problem with the wiring is still being investigated.

In all, an estimated 250 customers — including part of the fairgrounds, 120 Fairground Road — were affected by the outage.

DP&L crews have since made repairs and by about 10 p.m. the service in Greene County had been restored to the affected areas, Hall said.
