Registration opens for kindergarten

Dayton Public Schools’ kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year is under way this week. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years old on or before Sept. 30.

Parents or guardians may register their children at the DPS Student Assignment Office, 115 S. Ludlow Street, between Fourth and Fifth streets in downtown Dayton. Office hours are weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Parents or guardians are required to bring their picture I.D., the child’s updated immunization record, a copy of the child’s official birth certificate/proof of birth, proof of residence in the parent’s name (dated within the last 60 days, custody papers (if applicable); and the child care provider’s name, address and phone number, if applicable.

This week also began open enrollment for all grade levels for the 2014-15 school year. Families enrolling children in grades 1-12 are asked to bring the same documents listed above, plus proof of grade level, such as a report card or progress report.
