Report: Student arrested for making threat at Dayton charter school

Students and staff members at Montgomery Preparatory Academy on South Smithville Road were “not in immediate danger” when a student made verbal threats Tuesday morning, according to Dayton Sgt. Mike Godsey..

“The juvenile made some threats that were overheard by another student who did the correct thing in notifying school administration, who in turn then called police,” Godsey said.

Godsey said the incident remains under investigation.

A 12-year-old boy was taken into custody after he allegedly made a threat at a K-8 charter school in Dayton.

Dayton officers responded Tuesday morning to the Montgomery Preparatory Academy, 2745 S. Smithville Road, according to the Dayton police report.

The student was arrested on suspicion of making terroristic threats, according to the report.

The academy is a “K-8 Community School of Choice” and is sponsored by the Ohio Council of Community Schools.

We are working to gather more details about what happened from police and school officials.
