Robbers attempt to steal vehicle, hold man at gunpoint in Dayton

A Dayton man was held at gunpoint by two men he found trying to steal his girlfriend’s SUV Wednesday morning, police say.

Police were dispatched at 5:53 a.m. to the Marathon gas station on North James H. McGee Boulevard in Roosevelt on reports of an armed robbery. Officers met with the victim at the gas station who stated that he was robbed after leaving his friend’s apartment in the area of West Stewart Street and Danner Avenue, according to a Dayton police report.

At first, when the black 2011 GMC Terrain pulled up next to him, he believed that his friends were toying with him, according to the report.

The driver then flashed a silver and black handgun, shot one round into the ground and demanded the victim’s wallet and phone, read the report.

The victim said he fled to his friend’s residence in Westwood and was shot at as he ran away.

The first suspect is described as a male in in his early 20s, with black dreads and blond tips, last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants and armed with a silver and black handgun.

The second suspect is described as a male in his early 20s, short black hair, last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
