REPORT: Man steals from gas station, returns minutes later to buy food

A man accused of stealing from a Dayton Love’s Travel Stop reportedly returned minutes later to buy food.

Robert Purter, 44, of Dayton, was arrested for theft around 2 a.m. today, according to a Dayton police report.

No formal charges have been filed.

Purter reportedly took a winter hat and sunglasses from the Edwin C. Moses Boulevard gas station store, before running across the street and hiding behind a building.
Minutes later, he returned to Love's to buy food from a Hardee's attached to the store.

A security guard at Love’s spoke to Purter until police arrived, according to the report.

Video surveillance viewed by an officer reportedly showed Purter placing items in his pocket.
