The tractor driver, Daniel Delcamp, 60, of Covington, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Miami County Coroner William Ginn.

The SUV driver, Loren Flory, 73, of Pleasant Hill, called 911 after the crash happened.

“There was a car coming with blinding lights and I just got over and then I hit this tractor,” the SUV driver said.

Flory complained of some back pain after the crash and was taken to Kettering Health Network’s Troy Hospital, records show.

Initial investigation by the sheriff’s office showed that Delcamp had just pulled his tractor onto Mowry Road from a field and was towing a planting drill.

“The tractor was parked at a slight angle across both lanes of travel,” the sheriff’s office said.  “Delcamp was standing outside of the tractor at the time of the crash near the cab.”

Now is a busy time for local farmers, with many of them working around the clock to harvest their crops. This means more farm vehicles are traveling on roadways.
