Crews responded to the ditch on Air Hill Road, near Keener Road in Perry Twp.

“We did find a small 30- to 40-pound dog that was trapped about 40 feet in the storm drain,” Brookville Fire Capt. Jim Hart said. “We utilized a portable stretcher and two of my guys were able to crawl into the storm drain, and the dog was thankfully pretty friendly and we were able to get her put on top of that stretcher and use the rope system to pull her out.”

The 17-year-old dog was stuck and had potentially been there for about a day, Hart said.
The dog’s family took her home following the rescue.
UPDATE @ 9:50 p.m.
A dog was pulled from a 48-inch culvert.
The dog was described as about 17 years old and deaf and had been missing since Sunday.
The dog’s owners took their pet home.
FIRST REPORT
A rescue operation is underway after a dog was found trapped in a 48-inch culvert.
Crews are on scene near the intersection of Keener and Air Hill roads, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.
The dog, described as possibly a yellow Labrador retriever, is reportedly 45 feet down.
