High water forces several road closures across the Miami Valley

Several roads are closed due to high water following Thursday’s widespread rain showers across the Miami Valley.

The Flood Watch, which was in place for most of the area since Wednesday, was cancelled around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Flood Warning is in effect for Little Miami River until 4:45 p.m. Friday for southwestern Greene and northeastern Warren counties and the Great Miami River at Sidney and Miamitown until Saturday.

As of 3 a.m., the following counties are experiencing roads closures as a result of high water:

GREENE

  • Medway Road, near Ohio 235 and the Mud Run stream
  • In Sugarcreek Twp., Ohio 725 at Sackett-Wright Park

LOGAN

  • Ohio 710, past County Road 54 into Sante Fe
  • County Road 104, near Ohio 273 in Belle Center, the road is flooded rather than closed. Drivers urged to use caution.
  • In the 13000 block of Ohio 235 in Weston

MIAMI

  • Ohio 202 at Tipp Elizabeth Road in Tipp City
  • Ohio 718 at Washington Road in Troy
  • Washington Road and West Standfield Road in Troy

MONTGOMERY

  • East Martindale Road at Kley Road in Englewood

PREBLE

  • Areas near the Hueston Woods State Parks in Israel Twp. are flooded with various road closures
  • The Preble County Park District Entrance, at 9691 Ohio 503 in Lewisburg, is closed
