A semitrailer hauling 22,000 pounds of steel coil caused extensive damage to the road shoulder when it overturned on Interstate 675 south ramp to Interstate 75 south in Miami Twp. on Tuesday, according to police.
“At some point during the curve, he (the driver) lost control,” said Miami Township Police Officer Pat McCoy. “The coil steel snapped from its chains, came off the trailer as the semi was turning over on its side. The truck slid. The coil came off. It went about 80 feet away from the truck.”
The ramp is expected to be shut down for several hours. The WHIO Traffic Center suggested detour is to exit southbound Interstate 675 at Ohio 725, take Ohio 725 north to the southbound Interstate 75 ramp.
The ramp from southbound Interstate 675 to southbound Interstate 75 will be shut down for several hours following a rollover crash involving a semi.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the ramp around 8:25 a.m. and reported a semi was on its side.
Dispatchers said police are expected to have the ramp shut down for several hours.
We have a crew on the scene and we’ll update this page as new details become available.
