Several local flights delayed, canceled as FAA staffing shortages reported

Fights at airports around the country were delayed Friday morning due to staffing issues at two Federal Aviation Administration facilities.

Two flights scheduled to arrive at Dayton International Airport later today were delayed around 11 a.m. Friday. One departure from Dayton to Washington, D.C., also has been delayed.

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is seeing numerous delays on both incoming and departing flights, including Baltimore, Chicago, Miami, New York, New Jersey, Orlando and others. At least one flight to-and-from LaGuardia was canceled around 11 a.m.

Airports affected include Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, LaGuardia Airport in New York, Philadelphia International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.

FAA officials told national media the regional air traffic control centers that are affected are the "en route" centers in Washington, D.C, and Jacksonville, Florida, creating a ripple effect to air traffic at airports like LaGuardia, according to a tweet.

There were no delays or cancellations reported at John Glenn Columbus International Airport.
