Man uncooperative with officials after alleged gunshot wound ruled a puncture wound

UPDATE 5/17/18 @ 3 a.m: A man that showed up to Grandview Medical Center Wednesday morning with what police believed was a gunshot wound, would not tell officials how he actually became wounded.

Dayton police responded to the local hospital around 2:30 a.m. on reports of a person shot, but once they arrived, were advised it was a puncture wound approximately 1 to 2 inches long.

According to a report, the man’s girlfriend stated that she found him bleeding from his right side while at their home, but had no idea how or where he became injured. While at the hospital, he would not inform hospital personnel or authorities how he received the punctured wound.

Police went back to the couple’s house, but found no evidence of blood or objects that could have caused the wound.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident, the report stated.

The man’s wound is non-life threatening and he’s expected to be okay.
