5 southwest Ohio school bus crashes in the past year

The Dayton Public Schools bus crash Thursday morning is the latest such incident in the past year.

The crash Thursday morning sent three students — an elementary school student on the bus and two Dunbar High School students in an SUV — to local hospitals. The SUV and school bus collided at the intersection Haller Ave and Weaver Street around 8:30 a.m.

Jan. 27, 2017 — A Greeneville High School bus was involved in an accident with a car carrying two passengers. The incident was not considered weather related. The bus was carrying around six students when it happened. The passengers in the car sustained minor injuries. »READ MORE

Aug. 22, 2016 — A First Student contract bus for the Horizon Science Academy in Dayton was westbound on East Third when it sideswiped a Chrysler Pacifica. The female driver of the Pacifica was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening. »READ MORE

Jan. 29, 2016 — A 21-year-old that was killed when her car crashed head-on into a school bus had a blood alcohol level over three times the legal limit in Ohio, according to the Miami County Sheriff's Office. Nine children were treated for minor injuries. »READ MORE
