A Springfield man was sentenced to more than four years in prison for illegally having a gun, according to a press release from the Department of Justice Southern District of Ohio.
Thurston Lewis Goodjohn, 34, was sentenced in a U.S. District Court to 52 months in prison for one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
Goodjohn, who is a convicted felon, was driving in Clark County in April 2017 when he was stopped by North Hampton police, according to the release.
A police officer reportedly saw a .40 caliber handgun in the car, as well as a magazine with 15 rounds of ammunition.
Goodjohn admitted that the gun belonged to him and knew that he was not allowed to have a gun due to prior felony convictions, according to the release.
He pleaded guilty on July 9.
The case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime, according to the release.
