The teen appeared before Judge Anthony Capizzi, who ordered the student stay in custody after he had concerns with some information that was discovered after the teen’s arrest.

The school resource officer at the high school learned about the weapon, and then contacted police, West Carrollton Police Deputy Chief David Wessling said.

The handgun was found in the teen’s locker, police and school officials said.

Capizzi did not specify the new information discovered after the teen’s Tuesday arrest.

Police said there were no threats made previously involving the weapon at the school.

The high school was placed on lockdown during the investigation. Police were still working to determine how the student got the gun.
