Three Valley Trust to hold community picnic

OXFORD — The Three Valley Conservation Trust will host a fall community celebration picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at the nonprofit’s headquarters on Beck Farm, at 5920 Morning Sun Road, in Oxford Twp.

The event is free to the public to celebrate 16 years of stream conservation and farmland preservation service to Southwestern Ohio and Southeastern Indiana. The picnic will feature food and beverages, live music and guided walks around the easement-protected Beck Farm’s 10-acre native prairie and more than 70 acres of woods.

Music will feature local John Kogge, with his own brand of folk/country blues and contemporary music. In addition, the event will feature conservationist singer-songwriter guitarist Dave Nolin, who also is conservation director of Five Rivers MetroParks. Food sponsors for the event include JTM Food Group and MillerCoors Brewing Company.

“The Oct. 10 picnic provides an opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about the role the Three Valley Conservation Trust plays in helping communities to save our streams, family farms and wildlife habitats, which ultimately contributes to healthy neighborhoods,” said Marcia Schlichter, a board member and recent agricultural easement donor with her husband, Ernst, with the land trust.
