Two men arrested for drugs found in car

Dayton Police made two arrests for drug possession at an apartment building on Uhrig Avenue Sunday afternoon.

According to an incident report, Dayton officers received a call from Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies who said a car fled from them and could be headed for an address on Uhrig. When Dayton police checked Uhrig they saw two men, later identified as Ricky Rutledge Jr., 23, and Aundric Kerley, 23, exit a vehicle and walk into an apartment building.

An officer looked in the vehicle, which was still running and had a window rolled down, and saw a bag of marijuana in the back seat, according to the report.

The men then sent a woman out to turn off and lock up the car. She told police that she did not know the men or that there were drugs in the car. She said she was inside putting away groceries when they came in and asked her to go turn off the car.

Rutledge and Kerley were found sitting inside another apartment in the building.

The car was searched and police found 194 gel caps containing heroin along with the marijuana, a scale and baggies, according to the report.

Several hundred dollars in cash was seized from both men.

Kerley has prior felony convictions for possession of heroin and cocaine.
