Free new business seminar at career center

The Warren County Small Business Development Center is sponsoring a free seminar, “Steps to Starting Your Own New Business,” on Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The seminar will be held at Warren County Career Center, 3525 N. Ohio 48 in Clearcreek Twp.

Topics to be discussed include business plans, business names, professional service providers, taxes, licenses, permits, legal issues, record-keeping, business loans and alternative financing.

Planning Commission has opening

The city of Springboro is seeking a community-minded and dedicated Springboro resident to serve on the city’s Planning Commission, filling an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2018.

Applicants must be registered voters and have resided in the city for a minimum period of two consecutive years.

The Planning Commission is a seven-member panel that meets the second and last Wednesdays of each month at 6 p.m. at the Springboro Municipal Building. The Planning Commission’s primary responsibility is to review residential and business development plans and recommend to City Council amendments to the city’s Official Zoning Map and Planning and Zoning Code.

Completed application should be submitted by Jan. 6 to Lori Martin, Clerk of Council, City of Springboro, 320 W. Central Ave., Springboro, Ohio 45066 or e-mail lori@cityofspringboro.com. Free course for caregivers, people with mental illness

A free 12-week education course for family members or caregivers of individuals living with mental illnesses will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, from Jan. 12 to March 29, at the Atrium Medical Center, 1 Medical Center Drive in Middletown.
