The Warren County United Way announced a fundraising goal of $1.83 million Friday at its 2012 fundraiser kickoff luncheon. Engen is the campaign chair for the 2012 campaign. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Lift Up.”
Lat year, the Warren County United Way raised $1.824 million, exceeding its stated goal of $1.8 million.
“We see a lot of opportunities out there,” said Warren County Executive Director Aaron Reid. “I know the economy is still struggling but at the same time, companies have indicated to us that they are holding steady and are committed to the cause. I truly feel we can reach this goal.”
Warren County United Way helps more than 100,000 people each year through 57 local programs focused on advancing education, income and help.
“We’re a local organization, helping local people,” Reid said. “One hundred percent of the money collected in Warren County stays in Warren County.”
The Interfaith Hospitality Network is one of the 57 organizations assisted by the Warren County United Way. The IFHN provides shelter, food and job and education assistance to homeless and struggling families.
“When you give to United Way you’re not just helping a family have a roof over their head, you are providing success,” said IFHN Executive Director Linda Rabolt. “You are giving a chance for children to be children without having to worry about where they are going to stay that night or what they are going to eat.”
Rabolt told the story of Danielle, a homeless teen mom who through her work with IFHN was able to buy a house and was taking classes to become a nurse.
“Because of what you do as donors, you held her hand and supported her when no one else would,” Rabolt said.
The majority of United Way dollars are collected through workplace contributions. Companies can arrange to have an United Way supporter come and speak to their employees by contacting (513) 932-3987. More information on the Warren County United Way can be found at www.warrencountyunitedway.org.
