The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is exhibiting the Ohio Watercolor Society’s 77 paintings that were juried for this year’s exhibition. The OWS’s exhibition includes landscapes, still lifes, portraits and abstracts with painting styles ranging from very traditional watercolor to unconventional methods combining acrylics, inks, Prisma pencils and overlays with the watercolor paint.

Dayton-area artists Joan Clark, Louise Doorley, John Emery, Peter Frederick, Rosie Huart, Sharon Stolzenberger and former Troy resident Angela Chang have paintings in the exhibit. The exhibition is on display at Hayner through Sunday, Oct. 4.

In conjunction with the OWS exhibition, local watercolorists Marcus Miller and Pauline Persing have a mini exhibit of small paintings in the solarium display case at Hayner. For both, artists landscapes and nature are a major focus. While Miller’s paintings incorporate historical sites and old deteriorated buildings in his landscapes, Persing’s focus is on individual flowers and birds.
