Marion's Piazza named no. 1 on Pizza Today's 'Hot 100' list

Marion's Piazza has been named No. 1 in Pizza Today's "Hot 100" list.

Each year, the magazine ranks the largest independently owned pizza operations in the U.S. based on sales. And this year, Marion's came in first, with just under $21 million in sales. This is the fourth year out of the last five years that Marion's topped the list, according to Marion's Piazza CEO Roger S. Glass.

The magazine uses gross sales as its criteria, measuring all pizzerias with nine or fewer restaurants in the “independent” category. Marion’s operates nine pizza restaurants in the Dayton/northern Cincinnati area.

Pizza Today’s editors said the list “is a testament to the ingenuity, diligence and skill of the pizzeria owners who make the grade.”

Marion’s Piazza was the only Dayton-area pizza chain to be named to the “Hot 100” list. It ranked second for a few years before finally breaking through to no. 1 in 2013.
