Miamisburg plans more downtown housing on site of Main St. landmark

A “major step” to redevelop a Miamisburg retail landmark to provide more downtown housing is set to begin this month.

The demolition of part of a century-old Main Street building formerly occupied by Suttman’s Men’s and Boy’s Wear is expected to start this month.

The city of Miamisburg, which has owned the building for about a year, plans to redevelop the site with “high-quality retail and residential space,” according to Development Director Chris Fine.

Evans Landscaping of Cincinnati has been awarded the contract to tear down parts of the building – the original sections which were built around 1900 – in a project that is expected to be complete next month.

The $91,000 project will be funded with a $75,000 grant from Montgomery County with the city paying for the remainder, Fine said.
