Miamisburg superintendent: How school board rates his performance

Miamisburg’s school board gives its superintendent high marks in all categories, according to a recent evaluation.

David Vail was given strong reviews for each of the six standards he was judged on based on a 1-5 rating system with 5 the highest score, Miamisburg City School District records show.

The standards included leadership and communication issues, and policy and curriculum development, among other areas, records from the December evaluation show.

Vail’s evaluation shows ratings of 3 or better in the overwhelming majority of the approximate 50 criteria on which he was rated.

Vail, an educator for more than 35 years, has been the top administrator for Miamisburg schools since August 2012. He had previously been superintendent in Versailles, where he served for more than four years.

The school board in 2016 agreed with Vail on a five-year contract that will increase his base salary from $125,000 to $140,000 during the life of the agreement.
