His comments come as some governors protest the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the United States, in the wake of Friday’s attacks in Paris. As of Monday night, at least 23 governors — 22 of whom are Republican — have taken action to prevent refugees settling in their states, including signing executive orders, sending requests to federal officials and other means. Legally, there is likely little governors can do to prevent refugees from coming, experts say.
