Michael T. Flynn is hardly the first high-profile administration official to resign amid a scandal, but most don’t do so quite so quickly. Here are a few of the other resignations in recent years:

May 30, 2014: Eric Shinseki resigned as Secretary of Veterans Affairs under pressure from Congress and others following allegations of mismanagement by the department. He served for five years and four months.

Nov. 9, 2012: David Petraeus, Director, Central Intelligence Agency. He admitted to an extramarital affair with a reporter. He served for one year and two months.

June 23, 2010: Gen. Stanley A McChrystal, Commander, International Security Assistance Force. He made critical remarks directed at President Barack Obama in a magazine article. He was relieved of his command after one year.

Sept. 17, 2007: Alberto Gonzales, Attorney General. He gave no reason for his resignation, but it followed intense criticism by Democrats and talk of impeachment proceedings. He served two years and seven months.

Dec. 18, 2006: Donald Rumsfeld, United States Secretary of Defense. He resigned after Democrats took control of the House in the mid-term elections.He served five years and 11 months.

April 21, 2005: Porter Goss, Director, Central Intelligence Agency. He gave no explanation for his resignation, which came after just seven months.

September 2005: Michael D. Brown, Director, Federal Emergency Management Agency. Was heavily criticized for the agency’s response to Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. He served two years and six months.

July 11, 2004: George Tenet, Director, Central Intelligence Agency. Served under both presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Resignation came following intense criticism over the CIA’s role in the buildup to the 2003 Iraq War. Served seven years.

June 27, 2003: Christine Todd Whitman, Administrator, Environmental Protection Agency. Clashed with the administration over numerous issues. Served two years and five months.
