Alex Highsmith, who walked on a UNC Charlotte, is heading to the NFL -- and his 92-year-old grandmother danced when she heard the news.

College football players usually get excited when they are chosen in the NFL draft, and so do their relatives. Alex Highsmith’s 92-year-old grandmother got so excited Friday night, she began dancing.

Highsmith, a linebacker, was a walk-on at UNC Charlotte, was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the NFL draft. His grandmother, Ernestine Highsmith, reacted with joy when her grandson was announced as the 102nd overall pick, she got out of her recliner and began dancing at her North Carolina home, WECT reported.

Relatives recorded Ernestine Highsmith’s moves, encouraging her with chants of “Go, grandma.," the television station reported.

"It meant so much," Alex Highsmith told WECT. "I love her so much and to see her get up and dance and have joy like she did just brought a lot of joy to me. She killed it and had rhythm too. Steeler Nation definitely deserves to see that video."

Sam Highsmith, Alex’s father, said the video made him cry, especially since her mother had faced serious health issues.

"I had already stopped crying when my niece shared it with me then I started up again after viewing it," Sam Highsmith told WECT. "Seeing that uncontrolled joy and pride for her grandson come out through a dance was unreal. God gave her that strength and rhythm!"
