Costco announced that beginning Monday, all members and guests entering its stores will be required to wear masks or face coverings. Employees also will be required to wear masks.

On its website Wednesday, the warehouse retail giant said customers' face coverings must cover their mouths and noses at all times while inside the store. The exceptions are children under the age of 2 and people who are unable to wear face coverings due to a medical condition, Costco said.

"The use of a mask or face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing," Costco said on its website. "Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises."

Costco has already limited the number of customers to no more than two people per membership card, and is not accepting returns on specific items, including toilet paper, bottled water, sanitizing wipes, paper towels, rice and disinfectant spray.
