Police in Wisconsin are looking for a man who pointed a gun at a driver who thought he was helping a driver in distress.

A Michigan man, trying to be a good Samaritan on the highway, instead became the victim of a crime Saturday, Wisconsin authorities said.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the 57-year-old man was ordered out of his vehicle at gunpoint by a man who was posing as a driver in distress, WDJT reported.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the carjacker stood behind an older, silver, four-door Buick LeSabre, blocking any view of the license plate, the television station reported. The man was holding a gas can and acted as if he had run out of fuel.

The victim, who had ties to Washington County, pulled over to help. However, he was soon staring down the barrel of a gun as he was ordered out of his silver 2016 Dodge Ram truck.

“Criminal predators like this need to be held accountable for their actions,” said Washington County Sheriff Martin Schulteis in a news release. “The sheriff’s office will be utilizing all resources available to us. In this case, a firearm was pulled on an innocent victim who was only trying to be a good Samaritan to the very individuals that wronged him. We want to ensure these individuals do not victimize anyone further and that is why we are asking for the public’s help.”
