Tennessee man accused of slashing throat of child, 10, who was playing video games

A Tennessee man is accused of slashing the throat of a 10-year-old boy who was playing a video game Sunday night, authorities said.

Sammy Sadler Jr., of Lawrenceburg, was charged with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated child abuse, three counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest, according to Lewis County Court documents obtained by Tennessee River Valley News.

According to a police report, Sadler attacked the boy while the child was playing a video game at a home in Lewis County, WZTV reported. Witnesses told police Sadler grabbed the boy by his hair and cut him with a pocketknife, the television station reported.

When police arrived at the residence they attempted to arrest Sadler, who pulled a knife on an officer, according to court documents. Officers used a Taser to subdue Sadler, according to Tennessee River Valley News.

The boy was taken to an area hospital and then transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment, WZTV reported.
