Fake news, party differences on readers’ minds

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Fake news vs. reality in politics

In a world where after eight years of our first black president and a Republican Party of around 70 percent or more still believe Barack Obama is a practicing Muslim born in Kenya, what is fake news?

I have many friends who actually think the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting did not happen. The government paid fake actors to stage the shooting and cry to make it look real. All in the name of trying to grab your God-given right to own any gun you want. Those little kids did not get their heads blown off. The so-called parents made up the stories and the whole town and school district were behind the story.

The moon landing was fake, the Oklahoma City bombing and 9/11 were done by the federal government. Alex Jones sells the gospel and many people here never heard of him, but he is peddling the truth and the mainstream media lies. Agenda 21 is mainstream for many. Google “Infowars” and read the comments people make.

The biggest reason why fake news will continue through conservatives is sitting politicians jump on, pushing conspiracies. Fake news is mainstream in America today. People actually thrive on it.

Democrats just call for big government

Since LBJ, all Democrats can do is insist that government is the only answer to any problem. With just more money, they insist, our schools will produce great results. No they won’t. An unmotivated and undisciplined child in an expensive school will still yield poor results. Employees with no initiative will get nowhere. It is government’s job to insure the door is open; but it is for you to seize opportunity with enthusiastic effort, not minimal compliance.

President Barack Obama had a unique opportunity to inspire young people to take the high road and make the effort necessary to fulfill their potential and know achievement. Instead, just to get votes, he stayed with the standard Democratic refrain that it’s someone else’s fault. Democrats praise John Glenn as a man of achievement, but continue to incentivize you to depend on government rather than encourage you to follow his example.

Imagine how different and better America would be now if, eight years ago, it had been Condoleezza Rice elected president.

Krugman, liberals wrong about Russia

Re “American voters were used in 2016 – and that must stop,” Dec. 19: In all the post-election hysteria by the DDN’s “From the Left” contributors, Paul Krugman’s rant brings to mind the observation that the Left’s claims and amplification among themselves about Russia’s supposed role in the election is missing one very significant point.

The only reason the Russians or any other possible source had the potential to influence popular opinion regarding the election is because the content of the leaked Democrat’s emails revealed the obvious shortfalls in both the party and their flawed presidential candidate. Lacking such ammunition there would have been little potential consequence to any leaks.
