Dayton's Main Street of the 1860's was dotted with a few multi-story buildings and a few scattered travelers moving up and down the road.

Today, traffic can be heavy, and the buildings are much taller.

That's the comparison visible in this week's update to our Then & Now photo gallery, which presents the past and present of the Miami Valley, from black and white to current day. The west side of Main Street is featured this week, changing from dirt roads to paved thoroughfare.
