Dayton-area movie theater slashes prices through summer

Prime-time movie tickets have been cut about $3, manager says.

One of Dayton’s luxury movie theaters has dropped the prices of its tickets through the dog days of summer.

Cinépolis Dayton will sell regular movie tickets for $7.50 all day weekdays until Aug. 1, according to an email from spokeswoman for the business at 10251 Penny Lane in Miami Township, Montgomery County.

Admission will be $7 for children younger than 12 and $6.25 for those 60 and older weekdays.

Regular admission tickets Friday through Sunday are $7.75 until 4 p.m. and $10.50 after.

The price for children and seniors is regularly $7.25.

Marica Grubbs said prime time ticket prices were cut about $3.

“This is a huge company and this is the first Ohio venture,” she said. “We want to stay competitive.”

Cinépolis, a 12-screen theater with a full bar and gourmet concessions, sold weekday tickets for $5 during  its "Winter Flash Sale" promotion earlier this year. 

The theater placed third in Dayton.com’s best of Dayton people’s choice award.
