Former Dayton guard to make European basketball debut in Italy

Charles Cooke played two seasons for the Flyers

Former Dayton Flyers guard Charles Cooke signed to play with De' Longhi Treviso, the European team announced Saturday.

According to reports earlier in the summer, Cooke was going to play in Germany, but he will now make his European basketball debut in Italy. Treviso is located in northeastern Italy. The team plays in the first division.

This will be the first time Cooke has played overseas since graduating from the University of Dayton in 2017. He signed a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans in July 2017. He spent most of the season in the NBA League but played in 13 games with the Pelicans in the NBA.

Last season, Cooke played in 40 games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the G League. He averaged 14.4 points per game.

In July in the NBA Summer League, Cooke appeared in five games for the Miami Heat He averaged 6.5 points in 15.1 minutes per game. He started Saturday in a 101-100 overtime loss to the New Orleans Pelicans and had 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting in 32 minutes. He was sidelined for one game by a concussion he suffered July 3.
