Elder tops Centerville, 56-39

With quarterback Messiah deWeaver distributing the ball, and a ferocious defense, the Wayne High School football team beat previously undefeated Miamisburg 49-14, piling up 500 yards in the process.

Valley View was undefeated, playing Franklin at home, and the Wildcats handed them five first half turnovers. Turning those turnovers into points became a problem, and Franklin upset set the Spartans 21-18.

Fenwick and Badin were both unbeaten,  but the Falcons had Nathan Jeffers, who scored five touchdowns and helped Fenwick beat Badin 38-31 in a GCL classic.

After starting the season 3-0, Vandalia-Butler lost last week for the first time all season, then ran into a Springfield buzzsaw. Depth and speed led the Wildcats to a 51-13 win over the Aviators.

WEEK 5 HIGHLIGHTS

Jacob Harrison threw for three touchdowns and ran in another score but Centerville fell 56-39 to host Elder in high school football Friday.

Harrison finished 27-of-39 for 309 yards passing and also had 52 yards on the ground. Nate Richmond had 10 catches for 110 yards with a touchdown and Colin Debord hauled in seven catches for 121 yards with two touchdowns for the Elks.

Centerville (2-3) will host Fairmont next Friday.

Beavercreek 28, Col. Hartley 24: Facing a 17-point deficit on the road, Beavercreek (4-1) rallied, getting the winning score on a Hunter Maloney 1-yard keeper on 4th-and-goal with 16.3 seconds to play.

Springboro 48, Northmont 27: Elijah Cunningham finished 21-of-31 for 283 yards and six touchdowns for host Springboro (4-1). Avery Miliner had 24 carries for 174 yards with three touchdowns for Northmont (1-4).

Fairmont 24, Greenville 6: Nick Moreland and Corde Kyles each went over the 100-yard mark in rushing, with Moreland scoring two touchdowns for visiting Fairmont (2-3). Clay Guillozet scored on a 9-yard rush for Greenville (2-3).

Trotwood 41, Lebanon 31: Raveion Hargrove had four rushing touchdowns and a receiving score and Kobe Vinegar added a 70-yard kick return for a touchdown for host Trotwood (4-1). Dakota Allen paced Lebanon (2-3), going 30-of-51 with 426 yards and three touchdowns passing along with a rushing score.

West Carrollton 16, Tol. Scott 13, OT: Jake Shockley's 29-yard field goal in overtime was the winning score for host West Carrollton (2-3).

Piqua 37, Fairborn 17: Darien Tipps-Clemons piled up 170 yards on 15 carries with three touchdowns for host Piqua (3-2). Wesley Watts threw for 174 yards with two touchdowns for Fairborn (1-4).

Sidney 55, Tol. Waite 8: Andre Gordon ran in four scores and threw for another for host Sidney (4-1).

Alter 63, Roger Bacon 7: Jake Ledford had three rushing touchdowns and Andy Turpin ran in two scores for visiting Alter (4-1).

Brookville 21, Monroe 0: Austin Delk had a rushing and a receiving touchdown for host Brookville (5-0). Harry Hall also ran in a TD and Matt Hughes tallied three interceptions for the Blue Devils.

Oakwood 35, Middletown Madison 17: Michael Hoecht carried 22 times for 279 yards and three touchdowns to pace host Oakwood (2-3), which led Madison (2-3) 28-0 at halftime. Sam Banke added two TDs for the Lumberjacks.

Carlisle 57, Northridge 36: Ridge Reed tallied six rushing touchdowns to lead visiting Carlisle (3-2) over Northridge (2-3).

Tri-County North 28, Bethel 0: Garrett Woodyard had 180 yards rushing on 25 carries with three touchdowns for host TCN (4-1).

Covington 28, Troy Christian 14: Ethan Herron ran in two scores for host Covington (4-1). Chase Hayden threw two TD passes for Troy Christian (3-1).

Coldwater 40, Anna 7: Jack Hemmelgarn threw two touchdowns and Aaron Harlamert had a 40-yard TD punt return for visiting Coldwater (5-0).
