Finfrock returning to coaching

Bethel High School is looking for veteran Kevin Finfrock to lift its football program to Cross County Conference contention.

Finfrock was recently named head coach of the Bees. He previously has been the head coach at Milton-Union and, most recently, Covington.

Finfrock has been out of coaching since a confrontation during halftime of a girls basketball game at West Milton in 2007. Not only did he lose his teaching position at Piqua High School, but he was also dropped as the Buccs’ football coach. His five-year record at Covington was 34-9.

A charge against him was dismissed.

“Frankly, it’s over and I’m done with talking about it,” he told Press Pros Magazine.

“Do I regret that it ever happened? Certainly. It changed my life, and it changed my family’s life.”

His son, Jake, set several school rushing records at Milton last season. Jake began Marine Corps boot camp last month.

Bethel was 5-5 in Brad Clendening’s final season as head coach last fall. Finfrock will take Bethel to Covington in Week 3.
