Cloudy with a Chance of Podcast: ODOT and the November ice storm

The Ohio Department of Transportation was busy Wednesday night and Thursday morning covering the first winter storm of the season.

Freezing rain wreaked havoc Thursday when one-tenth of an inch to almost four-tenths of an inch of ice accumulated on tree branches, power lines, cars and decks.

ODOT spokeswoman Mandi Dillon sat down with Storm Center 7 meteorologists McCall Vrydaghs and Kirstie Zontini to explain how ODOT tacked an icy storm.

She also shared what ODOT does to prepare for winter, how the salt barns are looking and what it is like being a plow driver. Learn more about how ODOT steps it up each winter to keep drivers safe and how the public can help them this upcoming winter season.
