With many comfort features to its benefit, the brick two-story home at 400 Claxton Glen Court in Washington Twp. offers expansive gathering spaces as well as private areas, such as office and guest suites and a back yard lush with mature landscaping.

A certain timelessness in interior styling features endures with real wood six-panel interior doors, cherry wood flooring and kitchen cabinets and wood casements around windows and doors.

A special feature requested when building the home in 1991 has evolved today into a different use.

Said one co-owner, “The in-law suite was added to accommodate family at the time, and now our out-of-town guests enjoy the benefits of it.”

Darlene Breen of Irongate Inc. Realtors said the cherry wood flooring was recently redone and a new air conditioner was installed last week.

“They are the original owners of the home, and they have certainly maintained it well,” Breen said.

She added, “It’s a beautiful lot at the end of a cul-de-sac. The floor plan has a nice flow, and there is an option for a bedroom suite on the first floor.”

This home has more than 6,070 square feet of living space, and it is listed for $580,000.

A tall archway creates a covered entrance leading into the grand two-story entry, where features include cherry hardwood flooring and crown moldings with dentil detailing.

The open formal dining room is enhanced with a three-window bay area and a Williamsburg-styled brass chandelier.

Fluted casings surround the wide opening into the living room, where triple casement windows and transoms are grouped together.

At the end of the entry the family room sits under a cathedral ceiling. A wraparound wet bar equipped with ice maker, porcelain sink and brass faucet has counter seating. A paneled wood mantel frames the gas fireplace, which is flanked by two sets of casement windows facing the deck.

A wide pass-through window connects to the breakfast area, which has access to the deck through wood-trimmed sliding glass doors. The planning desk is arranged with cherry cabinets matching those in the kitchen.

A wrought-iron pot rack is installed above the center island, which offers bar seating on one side. Cherry-stained doors cover the built-in refrigerator. Stacked wall ovens, a five-burner electric cooktop, dishwasher, appliance garage and double sink are all incorporated along with counter space that wraps around two corners of the remaining walls. More storage space is available in a walk-in pantry and a closet.

A nearby hallway gives access to the extra-large laundry room with space for two washers and dryers, to the attached garage and to a side entrance from the driveway, which acts as a private entrance for the suite.

The suite has a kitchenette with a refrigerator and an electric range and a sitting room with tall casement windows. The bedroom has two closets, one of which is a walk-in. In the full bath the tub-and-shower combination is enclosed by sliding glass doors.

On the opposite side of the main entry another hall way accesses two versatile rooms, both used as offices. One connects directly to a two-room hall bath.

Four bedrooms and three full baths are on the upper level. The main bedroom suite features a three-room bath/dressing area with separate vanities, walk-in closets with built-in chests of drawers, a walk-in shower in one room and a jetted tub in another.

Two of the bedrooms share a central bath with separate vanity rooms at each end. The fourth bedroom has a private bath.

Daylight windows are on the finished, walkout lower level, where the open recreation room offers separate areas for game tables and an entertainment/sitting area with a brick fireplace and a wet bar with counter seating. Near the exercise room is a half-bath. An unfinished room has plenty of storage space.

“(This location is) convenient to shopping, schools, library and major roads,” Breen said.
