Here are 3 times we gave a standing ovation.

JOHN LEGEND’S EGOT

John Legend made entertainment history in September when he won an Emmy, making him the latest to win the rare and coveted EGOT.

The Springfield native is the first African American man to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.

He won the Emmy award as executive producer for “Jesus Christ Superstar, Live in Concert,” in which he portrayed Jesus Christ.

ALLISON JANNEY’S OSCAR

Oakwood-raised actress Allison Janney won an Oscar this year for her role in the movie “I, Tonya.”

Janney earned the Oscar for best actress in a supporting role at the 90th annual Academy Awards held March 4. This was her first Oscar win and nomination.

Janney portrayed LaVona Harding, the mother of figure skater Tonya Harding, in the movie. She is the first Daytonian to win an Oscar in a major acting category.

Earlier in the awards season, she also earned a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award for her role in “I, Tonya.”
