To help local families kick off Father’s Day weekend and the summer season, the Dayton Mall will host an outdoor concert next week that will include social distancing, mall officials announced this morning, June 11.

The concert and performance are scheduled for 6 p.m. June 19 at the Miami Twp. retail center.

The Cincinnati Circus Company will open the show at 6 p.m. with what mall officials described in a release as “a thrilling, high-flying aerial show.” The musical concert will follow at 7 p.m. with The Milos, a Centerville-based alternative folk band. Mall officials said The Milos will perform “a sing-and-dance-along concert, appealing to families of all ages.”

The event will be held in the parking lot outside the former Elder-Beerman store at state routes 725 and 741. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, and can secure their free tickets in advance through Eventbrite or daytonmall.com, mall officials said. Guests can obtain a ticket at the door if space is still available on the day of the event, mall officials said.  Each free ticket is good for up to 10 people.

There will be marked spaces designed to accommodate no more than 10 people per space. Those spots will be placed nine feet apart, mall officials said.

“Dayton Mall is excited to celebrate dads in such a special way,” Dave Duebber, the Dayton Mall’s general manager, said in a release. “It’s hard to find ways to entertain your family during this cautious time of Covid19, and we’ve figured out a way for folks to social distance, relax and enjoy the concert.”

The Dayton Mall itself has reopened. Several food trucks will be on site, including Southern Sisters, Wink’s Treats and Cate’s Steakhouse, as well as Dippin’ Dots, Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Chick-fil-A.
