Ring in the holidays with dessert contest, specialty cocktails, lights and holiday music

For a quarter century, the magic of the holiday season has come alive at Carillon Historical Park’s Ringing in the Holidays celebration.

Held the Saturday before Thanksgiving, Ringing in the Holidays benefits Dayton History in its mission to inspire generations by connecting them with the unique people, places, and events that changed Dayton and the world.

“Ringing in the Holidays was originally a smaller event held under a tent in front of Carillon Historical Park,” said Dayton History Director of Community Development Lauryn Bayliff. “While I was not there, I hear that inaugural event was very festive, but very cold. For many years it has been held inside the Kettering Family Education Center, a building that did not even exist when the event began, and this year we are using the brand new reception hall in the WinSupply Center of Leadership. A lot has changed over the years and it just keeps changing.”

Since 1994, the annual holiday gala has brought the community together. Not only does it support a great cause, but it is also the perfect way to, well, ring in the holidays. Here are 5 reasons to love the 2019 event, celebrating 25 years:

1. Dessert!

Dayton’s Most Delightful Dessert Contest is always a Ringing in the Holidays favorite. Guests will sample decadent desserts from Dewberry 1850, Culp’s Cafe and other local confectioners. Winners receive the People’s Choice, Critic’s Choice, and Best Presentation awards.

2. Gourmet Hors d'oeuvres and drinks

The menu of gourmet hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails never disappoints. There is also an open bar.

3. 25th Anniversary Ornament

Laura Carter of Raise Your Brush has created Carillon Historical Park’s limited edition 2019 Cheers to 25 Years ornament. This uniquely Dayton gift is sure to brighten any Christmas tree.

4. Big prizes

The Winter Getaway Raffle returns with a first prize Chicago Experience for Two, featuring two round-trip flights, dinner at an upscale Chicago restaurant, and a two-night stay at the new Nobu Hotel Chicago opening this spring.

The second prize Raleigh, N.C., weekend getaway includes a two-night stay with breakfast at the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel, two museum tickets and dinner.
