Over the years, the Dayton-area has produced a number of athletes who found success in the professional ranks, including the NFL.

In fact, a select few have been fortunate enough to play for the league's biggest prize, the Super Bowl.

Will Allen

Position: Defensive Back

High school: Trotwood-Madison, Wayne ('99)

College: Ohio State (2000-03)

NFL: Tampa Bay (2004-09), Pittsburgh (2010-15), Dallas (2013)

Super Bowl(s):
  • XLV (45): Green Bay Packers def. Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-25

In high school: Helped the Warriors to the Division I state championship game in the 1999 season. Became the first Wayne player to have his jersey number retired (No. 4) .

In college: Was a consensus All-American as a senior in 2003 after helping the Buckeyes win the national championship in the 2002 season. Drafted in the fourth round in 2004 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In the NFL: Has played in 176 games in 12 NFL seasons for thee teams. Started all 13 games he played for Pittsburgh in 2015, recording 60 tackles and an interception.

High school: Roth ('82)

College: Ohio State (1982-85)

NFL: Philadelphia (1986-92), Miami (1993-96), New England (1996-97), New York Jets (1998)

Super Bowl(s):

  • XXXI (31): Green Bay Packers def. New England Patriots, 35-21

In high school: Was both a standout football and basketball player at the now-closed Roth, helping the basketball team to two state championships.

In college: Amassed 4,369 total yards, rushed for 3,200 yards and scored 50 touchdowns. In his junior year, rushed for 1,764 yards and 22 TDs. Drafted in the first round (10th overall) in 1986 by the Philadelphia Eagles.

In the NFL: Totaled 3,109 rushing yards, 5,661 receiving yards and 54 total touchdowns in 13 pro seasons. He was voted to the Pro Bowl in 1993 and was third in the NFL in receptions in 1990, with 81.

In the Super Bowl: Caught four passes for 42 yards and scored the Patriots' first touchdown, on a 1-yard pass from Drew Bledsoe in the first quarter.

High school: Springboro ('86)

College: Anderson (Ind.) (1986-90)

NFL: Buffalo (1992-93)

Super Bowl(s):

  • XXVII (27): Dallas Cowboys def. Buffalo Bills, 52-17

In high school: Competed in football, basketball, soccer and track at Springboro, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.

In college: Originally attended Anderson originally to run track, but he later joined the football team. Finished career with 3,271 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns. Drafted in the 8th round in 1991 by the Buffalo Bills.

In the NFL: Played in eight games over two regular seasons with Buffalo, catching seven passes for 139 yards.

In the Super Bowl: Returned two kickoffs for Buffalo, including one for 33 yards.
