Free dental care greatly appreciated by vets

I was one of the fortunate 120 vets who received free dental care from Dr. Bob Muster at ABC Dental on Nov. 10 (“Huber Heights dentist offering free day of care for veterans,” Nov. 4).

Many adjectives describe Muster, the five dentists who assisted him, all the dental technicians and specialists and administrative staff. Kind, welcoming, efficient, skilled ... you get the idea. Most important, they all seemed proud to provide their free services to every veteran there. We were treated with honor and respect.

Many vets, leaving after being treated, openly expressed gratitude for the care they received. Others, waiting their turn, talked about the treatment they were going to receive. One 80-something vet said he was having 16 teeth removed. Others, including a vet who looked to be in his 90s, talked about needing fillings, root canals and other procedures they needed but couldn’t afford.

Many wives, waiting for their husbands to come back from treatment, expressed relief that their husbands were getting care they’d needed for years.

I hope I’m speaking for all the vets when I say the treatments we received were greatly appreciated. God bless all the people who volunteered to make this day happen.
