There have been 73,822 cases and 3,132 deaths from coronavirus reported in Ohio as of Saturday, July 18, the Ohio Department of Health reported. A total of 1,542 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 9,513 people hospitalized. The Ohio Department of Health estimates that about 50,280 people have recovered from coronavirus. cases and deaths have been confirmed by the state.

This week on Wednesday, Gov. Mike DeWine addressed the state and said that Ohio is at a critical point in the pandemic and implored that Ohioans take action to reverse the rapidly increasing spread of the virus.

“Today, more Ohioans are getting sick than at any previous point in this pandemic. We are sliding down a very dangerous path, with our once flattened-curve starting to sharpen and spike,” DeWine said. “This is a worrisome, disturbing reversal of our progress -- a jarring reminder of just how quickly our fate can change.”

On Thursday, DeWine announced that a total of 19 counties are at a Red Alert Level 3 Public Emergency. Butler and Montgomery Counties are both Level 3 counties in the Miami Valley.
