Clayton police kick off #9PMRoutine campaign after rash of car break-ins

The Clayton Police Department is kicking off a social media campaign, the #9PMRoutine, to help promote safer habits following a rash of car break-ins was reported over the weekend.

The thefts happened in the Honeybrook and Seville neighborhoods, with items stolen including credit and debit cards, computers, cellphones and jewelry, according to Clayton police.

The thefts all had one thing in common: none of the vehicles was locked.

By 9 p.m., Clayton police said it’s time for residents to make sure they’ve:

  • Brought valuables inside
  • Locked vehicles
  • Checked mail
  • Closed the garage
  • Locked your home
  • Turned on outside lights
