An accusation of child rape against a Dayton Public Schools teacher put on leave stems from actions "believed to have occurred over a period of years," Englewood police said in a release Friday.

  • DPS teacher arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl
  • Police say the abuse is believed to have occurred 'over a period of years'
  • The alleged victim is not a DPS student
  • Adrian D. Hill, the suspect, has not been charged with a crime; he was released from jail

Accusations of child sexual abuse over nearly two years are included in court documents filed against a Dayton Public Schools teacher on administrative leave.

The actions Adrian D. Hill of Englewood is accused of involve an 8-year-old, and sexual imposition, gross sexual imposition and rape at sites in Montgomery County and Florida, documents filed in Vandalia Municipal Court show.

Hill, 25, has not been charged. He was arrested at Edwin Joel Brown Elementary School Sept. 13. A letter to Hill that same day from the school district indicates the Wright State University graduate was told he was placed on paid administrative leave, records show.

The accusations do not involve a DPS student, school officials said.

He was released from the Montgomery County Jail on Thursday because county prosecutors were not ready to make “a charging decision,” Greg Flannagan, a spokesman for that office, has said. Englewood police said the investigation is continuing and they are awaiting lab results.

Court records state the alleged victim indicated in a Sept. 13 interview that Hill “has been sexually abusing” her since “about age six and as most recent as three weeks ago.” Those same records state she told authorities “that abuse has occurred in several different locations” in Englewood, Union, Miamisburg and once in Florida.

A search warrant returned Sept. 14 indicates several items were taken from Hill’s home, court records show. They include a laptop, zip drives and other computer equipment, linens and under garments, , according to records.

Hill was hired by Dayton Public Schools – where he earlier was a student teacher - Aug. 10 at a starting salary of $41,409, following a background check, records show.

In addition to being a DPS teacher, Hill serves with the Army Reserve’s Kentucky-based 449th Engineer Company and deployed with the unit to Afghanistan. In 2013, he was appointed by Gov. John Kasich to the Ohio Commission of Service and Volunteerism, commonly known as ServeOhio.

Last year Hill was named Wright State’s Student Employee of the Year by the university and Ohio Student Employee of the Year by the state.
