WAYNE TWP. — When Shawnne Day’s husband, John, didn’t return home Sunday morning following a motorcycle run and camping trip, she became worried.

Those fears turned to tears on Monday, Aug. 23.

John “Mike” Day, 39, 5079 Rockdale Road, Liberty Twp., was found dead Monday near Ohio 73 just east of Ohio 503, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

His body was located by his brother-in-law, Ronnie Fields, who was searching for Day along with family and friends, Shawnne Day said.

His motorcycle was found not far from his body, according to sheriff’s deputies. No witnesses have been found, officials said.

According to Clint Nigg, Butler County Coroner’s Office investigator, Day died of head trauma, and it is believe it was 18 hours from the time of the crash to when he was found.

Nigg was unsure of the time of death. An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday, Aug. 24, he said.

Shawnne Day said she reported her husband of 14 years missing on Sunday morning.

She said she was heartbroken when she learned of his death.

“He was the only man for me,” she said through tears.

He leaves behind three children: Aaron Robinson, 18; Summer Day, 12; and Sklyer Day, 6.

Shawnne Day said her husband “loved everybody, and everybody loved him.”

Day, a truck driver, was a member of the Monkey Mutual Aid Society, 303 N. Third St., Hamilton, a service organization.
