Sheriff's Sgt. Shawn Trissel, in a prepared statement released Wednesday night, said a preliminary investigation shows Stacey's eastbound Chevy Camaro was rear-ended by a semi at Greentree Drive at about 2:14 p.m. as she was stopped for a vehicle waiting to turn left onto Greentree.
Stacey was treated at the scene by Gettysburg Rescue and taken to Wayne Hospital. A passenger in her vehicle, 68-year-old Dennis Reiling of Churubusco, Ind., refused treatment.
The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Gary Lockhart, of Thomasville, N.C., was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance, according to the sheriff's office.
He was behind Stacey's car but could not stop in time. That impact forced Stacey's vehicle into the rear of a Toyota Tacoma driven by Thomas Hartzell, 54, of Troy.
A fourth vehicle, a GMC Acadia driven by 37-year-old April Shumaker, of Greenville, headed west on U.S. 36, was hit by debris from Stacey's vehicle.
Lockhart, Hartzell and Shumaker all said they were not injured, according to the sheriff's office.
