Schaffer, 21, displayed a pocket knife and told Bryant he couldn’t let her go because she would call police. Bryant told her that if she did call police, he would come back and kill her, according to police records.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Steve Barnett said Schaffer and Bryant recently lived together but broke up.
Schaffer was charged July 28 with two counts — kidnapping and abduction. His bond was set at $20,000. Court records show a subpeona was issued July 29 to Verizon Wireless. Barnett told authorities that during the abduction, Schaffer used Barnett’s phone to tell her friend she was okay, but wouldn’t be going out that evening. Schaffer told Barnett he did this so no one would be looking for her, according to police records.
Schaffer will appear before a grand jury Aug. 9. He has not posted bail, and remains in the Hamilton County Jail.
