A Middletown man was charged with aggravated burglary, inducing panic and having a weapon in a vehicle, after he allegedly broke into his brother’s home and pointed a loaded gun at his sister-in-law. Raymond L. Scott, 37, once inside the residence in the 1300 block of Young Street, pointed a gun at the temple of his sister-in-law, screaming. When he didn’t locate his brother, Terry Scott, he fled the scene in a vehicle, but was captured by police. They found a loaded .9 mm Ruger black handgun and two loaded magazines in the unloaded glove box.
April 4
Gurney Fugate, 48, of Middletown, was charged with intoxication and resisting arrest after Middletown police officers found him unsteady on his feet near Smith Park. Officers said Fugate became abusive when he was placed in the cruiser and transported to the city jail. Once in the city garage, Fugate allegedly charged the officers. He was Tased and taken to jail.
Two air condition units were stolen from a garage in the 2100 block of Crescent Boulevard. The units were valued at $99 each.
Two months ago, two diamond necklaces and $1,100 in cash were reported stolen from a bedroom in the 4800 block of Holly Avenue. Then a resident called police and said he noticed a man’s gold wedding ring was also stolen.
A black smoker grill, valued at $75, was stolen from a backyard in the 1200 block of Woodside Boulevard.
April 5
A Toshiba laptop, valued at $1,000, was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Curryer Road. Also stolen was a chain saw from the garage.
April 6
Several pieces of equipment, valued at $1,350, were stolen from a shed in the 4900 block of Roosevelt Avenue. The items stolen: planer, welder and chain saw.
A PS3, controller and games were stolen from a home in the 2000 block of Wayne Avenue.
A Richmond, Ky., man posed as an employee of a Middletown company to obtain 60 feet of copper tubing — valued at $193.74 — then he tried to sell it to Cohen Brothers. The man, Phillip Coldiron, 38, told police he needed money to return home.
A Louis Vuitton briefcase, valued at $2,500, was stolen from an Escalade that was parked in a driveway of a home in the 4200 block of Rosedale Road. The Escalade was being test driven. Entry was gained by throwing a rock through the window, police said.
Middletown police and the department’s special operations unit issued a search warrant to the owner of a home in the 2200 block of Highland Boulevard. Police found drug paraphernalia, including syringes, digital scales, a crack pipe and razor blades. Matthew Dennis was charged with drug instruments and drug paraphernalia. Other potential drugs found in the home were sent to a lab, and additional charges may be coming, police said.
