Ohio doctor sent to prison on drug charges

A Jefferson County doctor of osteopathy is on his way to prison for two years after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony drug trafficking and processing charges.

Douglas Trubiano, 43, was arrested in August when members of the Jefferson County Drug Task Force searched his medical office in Tiltonsville, the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy said in a statement Tuesday night.

Evidence seized included medical records and a computer.

The pharmacy board launched the joint investigation in March after receiving an anonymous complaint accusing Dr. Trubiano of inappropriately prescribing large quantities of controlled substances to female patients.

Dr. Trubiano pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Common Pleas Court to five felony counts of drug trafficking and a single felony count of illegal processing of drug documents.

He was sentenced immediately and remanded into custody to begin serving his time.
